What's the one best show from each state? Did they even play in every state?

Here are some responses from Rich's previous request:

http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=286643

btw thanks for not dragging this thread back to the top after 10 days. Nothing wrong with asking for more responses and inserting the old thread in the new post.

As for the question, For VA I would have to go with the Mosque. I know that SDH and bluedevil love that Richmond Coliseum run from '85 and there were some great shows at Hampton after they were banned from playing in Richmond after the '85 shows because the cost of cleaning up bluedevil's puke was too great, but The Mosque still tops them all. Honorable mention to 9-11-73 and 4-14-78

That Richmond 77 sure is sweet, and yes to your honorable mentions, but lest not forget Hampton 81 and Hampton 89 (both nights), also my very first show the 2nd night in Roanoke in 87 is quite a boogie (considering the sporadicness of 87 as a whole). http://www.archive.org/details/gd87-07-08.beyerM88s.connor.2318.sbefail.shnf. Listen especially to beginning of the 2nd set, the crowd is as pumped as I ever saw a crowd. They are going absolutely beserk the entire set. The boys were having a ton of fun as well!

Yeah 5-1-81 should have made the honorable mention list for sure. Good call.

Sorry gents, as much as I love that Mosque show (hands down my favorite performance of '77), my vote for the best show performed in the Old Dominion is the gem at William & Mary in 1973...

While I agree that CW was rocked by that show, I can not move it in to the top spot. I am not a big fan of the contributions of Fierro and Ellis during those Fall '73 shows, especially during WRS.

Honorable mention and definitely top 3 for the Commonwealth!!

I'm not a big fan of the horns either Larry, but I think 9/11/73 is the best show of that tour. And although I score out the Mosque show at 100 pts and W & M at 99, a '73 Dark Star> Dew beats out '77 all day and every day in my book.

Just a matter of taste. Like I would always take a Guigal single vineyard Cote Rotie over a bottle Petrvs. Even though Jerry is on the label...

Definitely agree about best show of that tour. Given what goes on in November and December I rarely listen to September shows but that is the one I listen to more than the others.

Besides if the consolation prize is a Petrvs then life is pretty sweet, right?

I can only imagine, I dont recall ever tasting Petrvs, though I would not be surprised if that Pomerol contributed to the demise of Phil's liver, him being a former oenephile...

If I had to guess, Alaska and Wyoming being a couple others they didn't play in...

What about the Dakota's? Or Montana?

It's an excellent listen although I think May and June '74 is a real sweet spot for the band in general.

The played Alaska in 1980. Montana in '74 (all good shows).

You can search by state on deadlists and I think I counted 46 states, but I did not try to figure out which 4. WY, DE, and the Dakotas makes sense though.

I agree with the Mosque - the place I saw my first concert as a kid. It's very similar inside to Atlanta's Fox (then again, I haven't been in since my last show there in 1983 - Laurie Anderson show; and then up the road to Nassau for the boys. "White courtesy, telephone". Language is a virus).

I saw a few shows at the Mosque in the '80s. Cool place for sure. I look forward to going to the Fox someday. Seems like it is mostly used for more upscale events these days. I think the musical version of Young Frankenstein is playing there this week.

As a native Delawarean, I know for a fact that they never played here. I think that there are 1 or 2 other states that they never played, but can't recall off the top of my head what they are.....Wyoming maybe??

For Ohio it's gotta be 12/6/73, although 11/22/68 would give it a run for its money of the sound quality were better.
